Primary Purpose:

To provide support for the campus in the area of behavior.  To facilitate positive changes in behavior so that students, who have behavioral concerns, can be successful in the educational setting.  To assist with trainings at the campus levels in the area of behavioral support for all students. To provide training for campus teams.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university                                                           

Valid Texas teaching certificate

Master’s degree preferred

CPI or MANDT certified

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of positive behavioral supports and intervention strategies

Knowledge of Response to Intervention (RTI) in the area of behavior

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

General knowledge of technology for use in presentations and trainings

Knowledge of basic behavior interventions and strategies for students with emotional and behavior challenges

 

Experience:

At least three years teaching or approved internship

Experience with behavioral intervention and support

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

            Model behavioral intervention recommendations and teach campus staff how to implement developed plans

            for individual students or classrooms

 

            Develop a campus plan for behavioral support initiatives and assist campus leaders with implementation

 

            Train campus personnel in RTI process in the area of behavior

 

            Foster the campus plan for Positive Behavior Support Initiatives (PBSI)

 

            Communicate with campus and district staff regarding interventions and provide trainings for selected campus teams

             on progress monitoring for behavior interventions

 

            Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies regarding

              behavior/discipline, and be an active trainer for the district 

                                                                                 

            Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written

             evidence of preparation as required

 

            Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to create an effective RTI plan for students assigned.

 

            Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect

             understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.

            Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members

 

            Develop, compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required, including

              observations, data collection, and reliability checks

 

            Provide RTI behavior supports in the classroom as well as when a student may need to be removed from the

              classroom

 

            Assist campus administrators, teachers and students with crisis situations

 

            Attend professional development as requested by supervisor

            Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

            Maintain emotional control under stress.  Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and

            pulling.  Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive

            equipment.  May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior

            through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students.  Exposure to biological hazards.
